Commuting shoes for autumn
Fall is the trickiest of all seasons, especially if you live in a dark and wet environment. Walking to and from work, or basically anywhere becomes a hassle I would rather avoid. Read on to see some great commuting shoes for autumn.
You have endless style opportunities to choose from if you’re looking for commuting shoes for autumn.
How on earth does one find anything to wear when the weather turns on you? Those cute sandals or ballerina flats are too cold and won’t do anything to protect your feet, but it’s not yet time for the cozy and furry winter shoes.
Shoe shopping is supposed to be fun, but to be honest, I usually dread shopping for fall and winter. Gone are the slim and colorful pumps from the summer, and you just know that the chances of your new shoes being ruined by rain are bigger than you would like to think.
This fall, however, I’d say I quite look forward to the shopping as long as these beauties stay on the shelves long enough for me to drag my ass to the store.
Knee high rain boots
If you’re living in a city where rain is the mundane rule rather than the gloomy exception, nothing works wonders as a pair of knee high rain boots. The Hunter boots are the most standard ones, but they come in all kinds of quirky colors if you want to spice things up a bit.
Low waterproof booties
If you still need to deal with rain, but don’t think a full-on storm outfit is right for you, there’s luckily a few weatherproof options. I especially like the boot from Bernardo. It looks more elegant than you would think given that it’s water-resistant.
There are so many great beige options around this year. The colorblock from Kristin Cavallari is especially interesting. I’m also slowly falling in love with the Linnie Bootie from Cole Haan.
There’s nothing discrete about boots like these, and you need some confidence to wear them. I wouldn’t use them if I was wearing a skirt or dress, maybe not even with a suit. They’re obviously more suited if you’re wearing jeans, but they’re just so sexy. I definitely need a gray pair of thigh high boots this fall.
Booties with bling
It isn’t illegal to slap on some glittering details just because autumn is coming. These booties add a more interesting touch than a plain black pair.
If you need to walk a bit to and from work every day, flats may be more comfortable. This pair from Alexander Wang continues the trend with contrast heels that has been around for a while. It’s safe to say that I’m not tired of it yet.
They’re a step up from wearing something completely flat, but still comfortable enough to walk in. The pair from Nine West may be a bit on the tall side, but should still be manageable.
As I said in the beginning of the article, these are commuting shoes for autumn, not office shoes. I would change into something else the minute I arrived at work. Some of the more slender booties may be appropriate if you’re a bit more of a rock chic than just a plain pumps and pearls girl. However, I would know my office really well before putting on a pair of thigh high boots.
